This is Dicko's Story Dicko is an 8YO miniature pony stallion that was well cared for by his owners L & P. Some four years ago he along with some others ponies were sold and relocated to a station property. Recently L & P heard that Dicko had been spotted beside the road looking neglected and in poor condition so L & P on investigation tracked him down and purchased all the animals back so that they could be cared for. Seeing the state of all the ponies hooves and in particular Dicko's near front hoof L & P approached a number of people to rectify the problem, however nobody would take him on. Following consultation with the local Vet "Tabby" and talking to others L & P contacted us to see if we could assist. On seeing the poor little tacker we were only too keen to assist in what ever way we could so Dicko came into our care on 16th Jan 2008. Before any remedial attention was given we decided that treatment could not begin until we had a good picture of what we were up against so first step was xrays and a round table discussion as to how to attack the problem. Treatment began with our
master barefoot trimmer Ben on 22nd Jan 2008 with a complete initial trim of
all hooves and additional work on the problem hoof. One of the next procedures will see Dicko have some work done on his smile. Keep an eye on Dicko's Progress |
